Nellie Thornton Tucker passed away at the age of 88 on May 19, 2017 at her home of 53 years in Naples, FL due to declining health.

Nellie was born October 15, 1928 in Frostproof, Florida to Flemming and Emma Thornton; she grew up with five brothers and two sisters. She spent her earlier years in Frostproof roaming among the orange tree acreage & lush farmland; loving the outdoors and country living of simpler times.

The Thornton Family visited Naples and saw what a beautiful sleepy fishing village it was and moved to Naples, Florida in 1942. Her father & brothers were commercial fisherman; who brought their fish to Combs Fish Company & Turners Seafood.

She graduated from Naples High School on 3rd Avenue in 1945. She was extremely active with her children's sporting events; traveling throughout southwest Florida for baseball, softball, track & field, cheer-leading & football. Of course she was an avid bowler, playing on many bowling teams, including one with her two sons and daughter-in-law.

She was in the hospitality wait staff profession working at Tropics Drive-In, Lums, and even worked at Lakewood Country Club for 27 years, until she retired at 82.

She married Leon G. Tucker in June 16, 1960. She and Tucker's favorite past-time was going to the beach with the kids on 3rd Avenue to fish and sunbath; many dinner meals were caught. She also enjoyed gardening and family events such as Holidays, Thornton/Smith family reunions in Frostproof, and MOST of all, many family cookouts throughout the years.

She is survived by her children from Leon G. Tucker marriage (Leon passed in November 1986): Debra L. Tucker, son Nicholas, Brenda M. Bunch, husband Joseph, children Jacob, Michael and Sarah as well as her children from previous marriage to James T. She also has many Great-Grand-Children and one Great-Great-Grandchild.
